I am the author of the novels Before the Ruins (2021) and Bliss & Blunder (2023).
I grew up on a small farm in Wiltshire, studied Literature at the universities of Manchester and Amsterdam, and have lived in Holland, Australia, the Czech Republic, Brazil and Germany. In 2011, I was shortlisted for the Mslexia Unpublished Novel Prize.
In 2008, I moved to Berlin and in 2011, I founded The Reader Berlin, a vehicle for literary adventures that has seen me teaching writing workshops across Europe, throwing a literary festival in an abandoned fort, hosting a Sunday Salon, and leading writers’ retreats in Greece and Italy. I also founded The Berlin Writing Prize and I’m the former editor of Berlin Stories for NPR. In 2021, I was the recipient of a Berlin Senat research grant and awarded a Hawthornden Fellowship.
An accomplished editor and provider of mentoring and manuscript assessment, I have read widely from my work. In 2022, I delivered a lecture at Gladstone’s Library. In the UK, I have taught writing workshops for the Swindon Festival of Literature and Glasgow’s Ay Write Book Festival.
